For all of you who might be inclined to tell me I don’t know what I’m doing, that I’m going to jump into something headfirst without looking to see if there’s water – I assure you, I do know what I’m preparing to tackle. NanoWriMo begins in November, which means this month, in this lovely month we call October, is the season of preparation. In more than one way, might I add. This month will be a busy one.
I have a lot I’m getting ready to do. I’m hoping to be here, on WordPress, more often than I have been. I’m going to be doing a bit more writing than what I normally used to. That’s fine. That fine, my friends. I’ll have a whole load of different topics to talk about. One of these topics is NanoWriMo Prep and NanoWriMo itself – I’ll be taking the plunge, this year. I joined two years ago and haven’t used it, thus far.
So that’s going to change. Today is an exceptional day to make this post, really.
In one of my earlier posts, I made a mention about doing a vlog on YouTube. I still have every intention on doing so, but it won’t be for a long while. I tried uploading a video last night. My computer crashed. My internet is shaky (I have basic internet) and Fidelity and I are in a huge fight because my internet keeps saying ‘You Don’t Have Internet’ every ten minutes. I’m more than upset about that.
I’m also sure my computer is a piece of semi-working junk.
So for those who were looking forward to having a few videos, I’m sorry.
Until I get a better computer and better internet, it’ll have to wait. Though I do have a book coming called ‘Videoblogging for Dummies,’ which I’m looking forward to reading. I’ll be learning what I need to, in order to give all of you more things to enjoy.
As for right now, though, my only income is my job I have on the weekend. Frankly, I’m looking forward to getting through Trade school so I can get a better job. But I’d like to jump back to the topic I wanted to speak of. NanoWriMo. That’s what this is about.
Not me ranting to you about the fact my internet sucks balls.
NanoWriMo, for you who don’t know, is National Novel Writing Month. It’s a month-long challenge where a writer will write, and finish, a 50k novel in a month’s time. It’s bloody insane, really, but I’m excited to jump in. I’ll be using ‘Fading Light’ as the book for this challenge, so there won’t be anymore updates on that for some time.
Over this next month, I will be talking about NanoWriMo Prep with all of you.
I’ll discuss outlining, planning, character building and all that. As I go through the days, one after another, if any of you have questions – ask them. We are all learning, here. All of us are getting our hands dirty in this craft we call writing. We are all trying to figure out how to write a story and how to tell it well enough that everyone else can understand it.
This is as much a learning ball for me as it may be for the rest of you. I’ve been writing for years even if I haven’t published anything. Writing’s a joy of mine. A lot of what I do took me years of hard work to learn. I have countless books on the craft of writing, on how to write characters and on how to build worlds. I’ve had to learn to like subjects in school I thought I’d never want to be near so I could learn to be a better writer.
I do this for myself and I do it for everyone who reads what I do.
So that’s what’s going on, really. I’m tackling NanoWriMo next month, where I’ll write a book that’s 50k or more in thirty (30) days. Throughout this month, I’ll be fleshing out ‘Fading Light’ and outlining what’s gonna happen in the story. There’s a lot of work that’s gonna go into this. And all of you have the power to glimpse what I’m going to be do.
So be on the lookout. I have plenty of work coming your way.
Be ready, be prepared, and, above all else, be happy.
